Welcome to
the Shire of Coppertree
THE Society for Creative Anachronism (or SCA) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to re-creating the best of the Medieval and Renaissance eras (c. 400 - c. 1600.) Want to know more? A basic explanation can be found on the Society for Creative Anachronism web site.
For internal purposes, the SCA is organized into geographic entities (or "branches") with somewhat fanciful names. SCA branches are often hard to define in terms of "real-world" nations, states, and territories.
In descending order of size, the kinds of branches you are likely to encounter are:
- Kingdoms (largest)
- Principalities, Regions, and Crown Principalities
- Baronies, Provinces, Shires, and Strongholds
- Cantons and Ridings (smallest)
